Mayor Eric Adams is encouraging colleges and universities in New York City to hold traditional graduation ceremonies, despite the recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campuses across the country.
"It's a wonderful experience to graduate from an institution, and I don't think we should allow anything to get in our normal way of life," Adams told ABC's "This Week."
Last week, the NYPD broke up encampments at Columbia University, City College and other schools. This weekend, protesters interrupted graduation ceremonies at multiple schools around the country.
"We will do our job, and if the institution decide to graduate their students and celebrate a beautiful experience with their families, we'll make sure it's done in a peaceful manner," Adams said.
